Filmmaking all starts with a story being turned into a script --- and so will we !    This fun and interactive class emphasizes approaching scriptwriting -- like filmmaking -- as a team project.   Want to learn how to write a short script you can shoot as a low/no budget film with family and friends as a fun creative group activity ?  Or are you self-taught and have been making films on your own but have questions about how to improve your scripts ?  Maybe you just love films and want to learn how to break them down and analysis how they work their magic on you?   This special introductory priced workshop is for you !

LEARN HOW TO:

  • Translate a story into proper script format
  • Learn how a script is a blueprint formatted to give essential information to the creative team who will turn the story into a film
  • Understand Three Act Story Structure: Beginning, Middle, & End.   Don't get lost in a lot of ideas and tricky situations --- know where your story Is going & why
  • Create a storyline that's engaging and dynamic; the importance of motivation, need, conflict, and resolution
  • Use theme and genre to help guide your story
  • How props, wardrobe, and setting  can help advance the story and add distinct flavor to the world you create
  • Devleop engaging, multi-dimensional, and authentic characters by creating detailed 'back stories'
  • Writing realistic dialogue (and why it’s not really realistic)
  • Benefit of visually listing and diagraming story ideas
  • Value of research and pulling from real life

CLASS ASSIGNMENT: Write a short script set in one location with two - three characters. This class is not for you to take on your 'big' idea; this class is to help you learn the basics of script formatting and how to develop multi-dimensional, believable characters and storyline.
